We’re on a mission to bring you great times and great beer.
We do this by creating brands that get people talking and drinks that get people shouting. And when we’re not brewing beers, we’re trying to improve the lives of our people, community, and planet.
Who are Tiny Rebel?
Tiny Rebel was founded in 2012 by best mates Brad and Gazz. Based out of the Welsh city of Newport, we’re proud to be Wales' biggest independent craft brewery.
Over the years we’ve won loads of awards, such as Champion Beer of Wales, Champion Beer of Britain and SIBA Brewery Business of the Year. Which is great. But really, we just love making nice beer.
Our History
From two mates in a garage, Brad and Gazz quickly came up with some solid recipes that people really loved. From there, we grew a small but passionate fanbase, who helped us kick off Tiny Rebel to become what it is today.
Since 2012 we’ve continued to grow, and we’ve got no intention of slowing down just yet. We’re always working on exciting new projects and we can’t wait to share more of these with you all very soon.
The Bear Benefits
Tiny Rebel wouldn’t be what it is today without all of our hard-working Rebels. So, to thank them we put together some banging staff benefits that we’ve named ‘Bear Benefits’. Because everything has to be on brand.
Even though we’re happy with these, we’re constantly looking at ways we can improve our benefits and keep up with what our team needs as the years go by.
Tiny Timeline
2022
We made it 10 whole years of brewing epic beers (don’t ask how many, we’ve lost count) and to celebrate we brewed up 10 special beers and created a bespoke box to put them all in. And we even chucked in a limited edition glass. We threw over 100 tap takeovers so Rebels all over the country could join in the celebrations.
We launched our very own beer festival, ‘Rebel Fest’, a weekend with great beer, great independent music, and some mouth-watering food.
We also launched ‘Birthday Bucks’, now known as our ‘Community Fund’, which is a pot of money set aside to help community projects, as well as individuals across the country. You can read more about our Community Fund by clicking below.
2021
With restrictions lifted and normal life returning, we were fortunate enough to attend some epic festivals in 2021, kicking off with BigFoot Festival as well as our first appearance at Taste of London.
We also saw our flagship IPA Clwb Tropica, being rated the UKs No1 Tropical IPA. What a time to be alive.
2020
2020 saw the world lockdown due to Covid-19, this flipped our whole business model and everything we knew upside down. We saw pubs & restaurants closing and kegs stacking up, but fortunately for us - our rebels swooped in to save the day.
Our online shop saw a spike in orders overnight, which gave us hope during a really weird time. As the days went on, our online shop got busier and busier and it was clear to see - everybody wanted beer. We turned our Brewery Bar into a warehouse and packing hub, brought back some Rebels from furlough and got to work.
And we even brought the pub directly into drinkers' homes with virtual beer tastings. Tidy.
2019
We kicked off 2019 with a huge redesign of our can range to hit the supermarkets. As well as brewing over 4 million pints of beer (thirsty work, that) with 102 brand new beers launched.
2019 also saw us celebrate our 7th Birthday, which was one hell of a celebration with 100 tap takeovers all over the UK. And we even saw our Rebel Alliance grow to 137 Rebels.
2017
A big year for Tiny Rebel. We started brewing at our new custom-made brewery and taproom in January 2017. Which meant we had a brand new brew kit that meant we could brew up an impressive 5 million litres of beer a year.
We made a big investment into our packing equipment, bringing in a new cask racker, kegging machine and bottling line.
July saw us officially open our new home to the public, with tours and tastings on offer as well as our taproom pouring the freshest beer.
2016
2016 saw us hit full capacity at our brewery in Maes-Glas, which left us with no option but to find a new site and build something even bigger. We found a new site and got together with our architects to draw up some big plans for 2017.
Even though we were pushed for space, we still managed to brew up 30 new beers that year.
We started exporting beers to 20 countries around the world, we hit our 1000th brew, and launched our award-winning Red Ale, Cwtch into a homebrew kit.
2016 was another year for awards too, seeing Tiny Rebel win SIBA’s Brewery Business of the Year as well as International Beer Challenge UK Brewer of the Year. We also attended the Great British Beer Festival for the first time to pour beer instead of drinking it.
2015
2015 saw the opening of our pop up bar ‘Urban Pop-Up’ right here in our home city of Newport, serving up the freshest pizza and of course Tiny Rebel beer. The pop up came with that distinctive Tiny Rebel atmosphere that helped make it a huge success.
We won some more awards (show offs), including Champion Beer of Wales for the third year, with Hadouken taking home the Bronze. We also made it as the first Welsh brewery to win Champion Beer of Britain, with our Welsh Red Ale, Cwtch taking the top prize.
2015 also saw Tiny Rebel bring the first independent beer festival to Cardiff, inviting fellow breweries to showcase their brews.
2014
2014 was a pretty epic year, our Cardiff bar, known as the ‘Urban Tap House’, won ‘Best New Bar’ in the Shortlist Magazine awards. As well as that, we won a Food and Drink Award at the Insider Made in Wales awards.
Not only was 2014 an epic year of awards, we also grew our brew kit with new fermenters and introduced some new Rebel’s to the Rebel Alliance. We even released our first ever lager, Bo-Ho.
2012
This is where everything started, in our small brewery site on an industrial estate in Newport. And when we say small, we mean small, we had to pull everything out every day just to be able to get in and brew.
We had less than a handful of rebels working alongside us, but we now had a much bigger space than the garage to experiment in and really push the boundaries of the beer world.
